Text messaging with the practice is optional, and it is never a condition of being seen, scheduling an appointment, or receiving any service from us.
What you are agreeing to
When you opt in, you are telling us:
“I consent to receive SMS text messages from Ian Purcell MD APC for appointment reminders, marketing messages, and general two-way communication.”
We record the mobile number you gave us, the date you consented, and the wording above, so that we can honor both your consent and your opt-out.
How to opt in
We do not collect phone numbers or consent through this website. You can opt in any of these ways:
- At the office — sign the Patient Messaging Opt-In Agreement with your intake paperwork, or ask the front desk for a copy.
- By phone — call (858) 223-2172 and tell a staff member, and we will record your consent.
- By text — text us first at (858) 223-2172.
What we will text you about
- Appointment reminders — confirmations, reminders, rescheduling, and check-in or arrival instructions.
- Care-related messages — test preparation instructions, forms we need, prescription and referral notices, and notices that results are ready.
- Billing messages — balance notices, payment confirmations, and insurance or authorization updates.
- Marketing messages — occasional news about services, new testing or treatment offerings, clinic hours, and events.
- General two-way communication — replies to questions you text us during business hours.
Text messaging is not a secure channel. Please do not text detailed health information, and never use text messaging for anything urgent. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Message frequency and rates
Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply.
Message frequency varies with how you use the practice — most patients receive roughly 2 to 8 messages per month, and marketing messages are sent no more than twice per month. We do not charge you for text messages, but your mobile carrier may charge you for messages sent and received depending on your plan.
Help and opting out
Reply HELP for support. Reply STOP to opt out.
Reply STOP to any message to cancel. You will get one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and we will send no further texts to that number unless you opt in again. Reply HELP to any message for help, or call the office at (858) 223-2172.
Opting out does not affect your care. We will continue to reach you by phone or mail.
