What EEG evaluates

Electroencephalogram testing records electrical activity from the scalp. It can help evaluate episodic neurologic symptoms such as spells, altered awareness, unexplained events, or patterns that may suggest seizure activity.

How it fits into dizziness care

Most dizziness is not caused by seizures, but some patient histories include episodes that overlap with neurologic events. EEG results are interpreted alongside the neurologic examination, symptom timing, medication history, and any vestibular or imaging findings.

What patients can expect

  • Small sensors are placed on the scalp.
  • You rest while brain-wave activity is recorded.
  • The study is noninvasive and is reviewed in the context of the full clinical picture.
